we will be with you shortly. promise.

April 15, 2011

We are slacking this month.  We both realize this.  We both apologize.  We are both doing our best.  We both have some posts up our sleeves but we’re trying to make them…good.  We don’t want to just toss crap at you all the time.  We both like to write so we’re attempting to give you well thought out, well written posts.  This takes more time and energy.  We are both insanely busy right now with school (and also highfalutin and mingling at AAG Conferences.)  But please know that we are working diligently on data posts and will hopefully have them to you forthwith.  In the meantime I came across a quote from Ed Carr that I wanted to share with all of you that rather nicely sums up what I think is really at the root of our struggles to make productive and appropriate use of data…”We expect the world to work in a certain manner. Therefore, we gather data to measure the expected workings of the world and analyze those data through frameworks founded on the very understandings of the world they are meant either to affirm or to challenge. In addition, by our choice of data, and our means of analysis, we end up affirming that the world does indeed work the way we thought it did.”
