April 12, 2011

The data is coming, I promise, but I wanted to give a heads up to all the Seattlelites out there that the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers is going on right now in our fair city. It’s the first time in a long time it has been hosted here, and I totally ready to geek out on days worth of sessions. My professors have all cancelled class for the rest of the week, so I am planning on attending as many panels as my poor little brain can handle. Today’s topics include “Sustainable Communities”, “Dendrochronological Applications”, “Cultural Landscape of Wine”, and many, many more. There is just so much, it’s impossible to make some sort of schedule. Technically, you are supposed to pay. I am not going to and see what happens…..I’ll let you know how that works out. So, for any geographers (or anybody who has ever wondered what geography is all about) out there in the Seattle area or on the Olympic Peninsula, I encourage you to come and check out a session or two. You are guaranteed to walk away with some knowledge that you didn’t have when you walked in. Here is a link to the AAG website, where you can find general info and the schedule for the conference which runs from today through Saturday. Cheers.
